Your Step-by-Step Protocol

Dr. Vaibhav Shah clinic is a global hub for forehead osteoma removal, welcoming patients from across India and around the world. To ensure the highest surgical standards and patient convenience, we have established a strict Remote-to-Clinic Protocol.

Step 1

The Virtual Consultation

Before you book your travel to Mumbai, we conduct a thorough virtual evaluation.

  • WhatsApp Video Consultation: The most effective way to connect.
  • Consultation Fee: ₹2,000 INR (Payable via UPI/Bank Transfer prior to the call).
  • Requirement: Please have clear, high-resolution clinical photographs of the forehead (Front, Side, and 45-degree angles) ready to share.
Step 2

Required Medical Investigations

To ensure you are fit for surgery and to plan the Mectron Piezoelectric approach, we require the following reports to be shared via WhatsApp:

Imaging:

  • CT Scan (Brain/Cranium): Essential for 3D mapping of the osteoma.

Laboratory Tests (Blood & Urine):

  • Blood Counts: CBC, INR (Coagulation profile).
  • Sugar Levels: BSL Fasting and Post-Prandial (After Lunch).
  • Organ Function: LFT (Liver Function Test), KFT (Kidney Function Test).
  • Viral Screening: HIV, HBsAg, HCV.
  • General Health: X-Ray Chest, ECG, Urine Routine.
Step 3

Scheduling & Booking

Once Dr. Shah has reviewed your CT scan and medical reports, we will provide a surgical date.

  • Advance Payment: A 50% non-refundable advance is required to block the surgical suite and reserve the specialized Mectron equipment.
*Note: This deposit is non-refundable if the patient is not present on the scheduled surgery day.
  • Final Payment: The remaining 100% of the surgery fees must be cleared prior to the commencement of the procedure.
Step 4

Arrival in Mumbai

  • Local Patients: Residents of Mumbai and surrounding areas are always welcome for a physical consultation and evaluation at our Borivali clinic.
  • Out-of-City Patients: We recommend arriving in Mumbai at least 24 hours prior to surgery.
  • Post-Op Stay: While the procedure is typically outpatient, we suggest staying in Mumbai for 48-72 hours post-surgery for your initial follow-up before flying or travelling back.
Important Terms & Media Rights
  • Professional Documentation: As part of our clinical excellence protocol, pre-and post-operative photos and videos may be recorded.
  • Media Ownership: All medical photography, surgical videos, and digital media rights belong exclusively to Dr. Shah Clinic. These are used for clinical records and educational purposes.
  • Price Stability: While we aim for transparency, charges may vary if additional pathologies are discovered or if anesthesia requirements change.

  • By Road: Borivali is directly situated on the Western Express Highway, making it easily accessible for driving from Gujarat or Pune.

2. Recommended Accommodations

We recommend staying in Borivali East or Borivali West to minimize travel time on the day of your surgery.

Luxury / Business Stay (4-Star):

The Westin Mumbai Garden City (Goregaon): Approx 20 minutes away. Ideal for international patients seeking premium recovery comfort.

Mid-Range / Comfort Stay:

  • Hotel Grand Residency: Heart of Borivali, offering clean, sanitized rooms suitable for post-operative rest.

3. The "Recovery Timeline" for Travelers

To ensure your safety before flying or traveling long distances, we suggest the following itinerary:

  • Day 0: Arrival in Mumbai, check-in to your hotel, and final pre-op rest.
  • Day 1: Surgery Day (Outpatient). Return to your hotel for rest.
  • Day 2: Mandatory post-op check-up at the clinic.
  • Day 3: Observation day (Relax at the hotel).
  • Day 4: Final clearance from Dr. Shah and departure.

4. Local Amenities in Borivali

  • Pharmacies: Multiple 24-hour pharmacies are located within 500 meters of the clinic for post-op medications.

Essential Packing & Preparation

Travel Checklist

Use this checklist to ensure a smooth journey and a comfortable recovery at your hotel.

1. Vital Documents & Medical Records
  • Physical Copies of Reports: Even though you shared them on WhatsApp, carry physical copies of your CT Scan (Film & Report) and all Blood/Lab Tests.
  • Photo ID/Passport: Required for hospital registration and hotel check-in.
  • Referral Letter: If your local doctor referred you to Dr. Shah.
  • List of Current Medications: Mention any blood thinners, herbal supplements, or vitamins you currently take.
2. Clothing & Comfort
  • Button-Down or Zip-Up Shirts (CRITICAL): Do not bring t-shirts or "pull-over" tops. You must avoid pulling clothing over your head to protect the incision and minimize forehead contact.
  • Wide-Brimmed Hat or Loose Scarf: To discreetly cover the bandage when traveling back to the hotel or airport. Ensure it does not sit tight against the forehead.
  • Slip-On Shoes: To avoid bending over (which increases head pressure) when putting on shoes at the clinic or hotel.
  • Travel Pillow: A U-shaped neck pillow is excellent for keeping your head elevated and stable while resting at the hotel.
3. Post-Op Essentials for the Hotel
  • Gel Ice Pack: While the clinic provides initial care, having your own gel pack in the hotel mini-fridge is helpful for managing mild swelling.
  • Straws: Drinking through a straw can sometimes be more comfortable than tilting your head back for the first 24 hours.
  • Dry Shampoo: Since you cannot soak your hair for the first 48 hours, dry shampoo can help you feel refreshed.
  • Entertainment: Pre-download movies or books. Avoid activities that require significant "head-down" positioning (like heavy laptop work) for the first 2 days.
4. Digital & Financial Prep
  • WhatsApp Access: Ensure your international roaming or local SIM is active; this is our primary line of communication.
  • Digital Payment Ready: Ensure your bank/UPI is ready for the final 100% surgery fee payment prior to the procedure.
  • Emergency Contact: Have a family members number saved as "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) in your phone.
5. Important "Don'ts" Before You Travel
  • NO Blood Thinners: Stop Aspirin, Vitamin E, or Ginkgo Biloba 7 days before travel (only after consulting your physician).
  • NO Smoking/Alcohol: Avoid these for at least 48 hours before surgery to ensure optimal healing of the bone.
  • NO Fasting Changes: Stick to the fasting instructions provided during your WhatsApp consultation for the day of surgery.
